Currently, the Tonlé Sap river basin suffers from a declining water quality which directly impacts the communities that make the area their home. To tackle this, my floating proposal serves as a catalyst to improve and maintain the area’s ecosystem and economy through a growth and distribution system of floating farm pontoons that would filter human waste while providing natural habitats for young fish populations to grow to maturity, be sustainably farmed, and – as the fish will feed on mosquitoes & their larvae - subsequently help control the spread of mosquito borne viruses such as Dengue Fever & Malaria.
Offering a glimpse into the underwater microcosm surrounding my design, the adjacent animation was selected as a Finalist in the 2018 KRob Architectural Delineation Competition (the world’s longest running architectural drawing contest), and was announced as close second in the competition's Emerging Technologies category. The animation would later go on show at Scotland's National Galleries as part of the Royal Scottish Academy's 193rd Annual Exhibition.
